Each flag names the phrase, the rule it trips, and a suggested rewrite. * **Check brand voice** — scores the copy against a brand voice guide you generated for your own domain, with per-dimension detail. Results appear in the panel. **The plugin never edits your content** — you decide what to change. #### The publish gate Unlike a checker that only advises, this plugin can gate publishing. Three modes, in **Settings Brand Voice Checker**: * **Off** — checks are available; nothing is ever blocked. * **Warn** (default) — the reason a post would fail is shown in the plugin’s editor panel. Publishing proceeds. * **Block** — publishing reverts the post to draft, and the reason is shown. Content fails the gate when it has never been checked, when it changed since the last check, when the last compliance verdict was `hold`, or when the last score is below the minimum you configure. Three properties are deliberate: * **The gate reads stored post meta, never the network.** It cannot fail open on a timeout, and publishing never costs a credit. * **Blocking happens server-side**, on `wp_insert_post_data`, not in the browser. A client-side gate is only a suggestion. * **Administrators are exempt** from blocking, so a site can never lock itself out of publishing. Start on **Warn**. #### Account and credits The checks run on the Brand Voice Generator service and need an account there. Each check costs one credit from the connected account’s balance. You connect the site by pasting a connection key into the plugin’s settings; the key is stored in WordPress options and is **never** exposed to the browser — the editor calls this plugin’s own REST route, and WordPress calls the service server-side. The key is site-wide: everyone who edits this site spends the connected account’s credits. ### External services This plugin relies on the **Brand Voice Generator**, a third-party service operated by The Lost Agency BV, to perform the checks. The plugin cannot check anything without it. **What is sent, and when.** Nothing is sent automatically. Data leaves your site only when a logged-in editor presses **Check compliance** or **Check brand voice in the editor panel. At that moment the plugin sends, from your server to `https:// davidiwanow.com/tools/brand-voice/api-proxy.php`: * the text of the post being checked — HTML tags stripped, shortcodes removed rather than rendered, and truncated to 8,000 characters; * your connection key, which identifies the account to charge; * for a brand voice check, the brand voice domain configured in settings; * for a compliance check, the fixed market (`GLOBAL`) and audience (`b2c`) values the plugin uses. No post IDs, usernames, email addresses, IP addresses or other WordPress data are sent. Optionally set the brand voice domain you generated a guide for. Leave it empty to use compliance checks only. 5. Choose a publish-gate mode. **Warn** is the default. ## SSS ### Do I need an account on an external service? Yes. The checks run on the Brand Voice Generator service and consume credits from the account whose connection key you paste in. See the **External services section for exactly what is sent and when. ### Does the plugin change my content? No. It reports; you edit. It never rewrites, inserts or removes anything in a post. ### Can it lock me out of publishing? No. Blocking never applies to users who can `manage_options`, so an administrator can always publish, and switching the gate to **Off** or **Warn** removes it entirely. ### Does publishing cost a credit? No. Only pressing a check button calls the service. The publish gate reads the last check stored in post meta and never touches the network. ### What happens to shortcodes? They are stripped before a check, not rendered. Rendering them would execute arbitrary plugin code during an editor request. ### Which post types does it work on?
